About the Position: Incumbent serves as the Supervisory Range Management Specialist responsible for planning, directing, and supervising the Range Management Division for the U.S. Army Training Support Activity, Korea, Eighth Army training areas, and ranges across the Korean Peninsula. Major duties
Plans, directs and supervises the Range Management Division for the U.S. Army Training Support Activity, Korea training areas and ranges across the Korean Peninsula. Serves as the Technical Advisor for the Eighth Army, United States Forces Korea (USFK) Range and Training Land Program (RTLP). Perform duties as a Technical Officer Representative (TOR) for the sustainment of training ranges and related Geographic Information System (GIS) contracts that support Peninsula-wide Range Operations. Must possess expert knowledge of DoD Instruction 2000.14 (Range Safety) and AR 385-5 (Army Safety Program). Monitors range conditions to support force readiness. Provide guidance in the management of the Range and Facility Management Support System (RFMSS). Coordinate matters impacting Range Operations Peninsula-wide with HQs TSAK, team members within the RTLP, Peninsula-wide (IMA), Training Division Range Officer and branch action officers and host nation and Korean Union governing authorities. Coordinates Peninsula-wide Targetry Program in the planning for Other Procurement, Army (OPA) funding supporting lifecycle targetry replacement for hardwired and portable systems in the Peninsula-wide AOR. Establishes acceptable work standards for assigned Range Officers and Specialists. Advises Commanders of non-compliance issues with regulatory requirements, threat to the environment and human health.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes the following 1) Directing Range Operations for training areas in accordance with applicable regulations and the Commander's guidance; AND 2) Experience as technical advisor for the organization's Range and Training Land Program (RTLP); AND 3) Managing range equipment to ensure sustainment of training range infrastructure. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). ***Special Note for Military Members*** MILITARY RETIREES: A retired member of the Armed Forces may not be appointed to a civilian position in DoD (including a non-appropriated fund position) within 180 days after retirement [** unless the following conditions have been met: the Secretary concerned authorizes the appointment; or the position is authorized special pay under 5 U.S.C. 5305; or a state of national emergency exists]. MILITARY SEPARATED (NON-RETIREE): Military members may be appointed while on terminal leave, before the effective date of their military separation. Applications will only be accepted from members of the Armed Forces that indicate they are immediately appoint-able within 120 days. If you are currently stationed in the overseas area, all of your overseas time will be credited toward your current overseas tour end date. Your overseas time served will not reset upon accepting this assignment. If you have returned from OCONUS within the past 2 years or less, your time previously served in the OCONUS area will be credited to your 5 year overseas rotation upon accepting this assignment.
