Job summary

You will serve as a PRODUCTION MANAGER in the Fleet Maintenance Repair Department (Code 900), Norfolk Ship Support Activity of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.

Major duties

You will be responsible for the management and executive control of major availabilities on surface ships and advisor and consultant during all Naval ship availabilities and designated maintenance periods. You will support Naval Shipyards, Supervisors of Shipbuilding and intermediate maintenance activities in the solution of fleet maintenance repair. You will provide consultation and directions for availabilities issues and planning processes. You will have overall responsibility for the production functions connected with the repair and maintenance of ship systems. You will provide leadership and guidance in formulating repair and maintenance of ship systems. You will provide full, direct, administrative, management and technical supervision for other employees. You will determine and approve training needs, deciding the extent of training required, and coordinate same. You will establish goals and objectives for the Command and Production Department, and measure progress towards these goals. You will conduct periodic status reviews of major projects and administrative concerns and advise managers on courses of action in unique situations with potentially wide-ranging effects. You will resolve questions relating to funding specifications, scheduling or other considerations. You will oversee the preparation and issue of overall planning schedule based on the established availability dates and all work-authorized prior to and during availability. You will review projected work schedules against accomplished relative to funds availability or requirements.

Qualification

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in management and executive control of major availabilities on surface ships; Experience in advising and consulting higher echelon for decisions during all Naval ship availabilities and designated maintenance periods; Experience in production functions connected with the repair and maintenance of ship systems; Experience overseeing the preparation and issue of overall planning schedule based on the established availability dates and all work-authorized prior to and during availability; Experience overseeing the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of command programs; Experience approving multi-year and long-range works plans; Experience managing the development of policy and organizational changes.
