Job summary
About the Position: This position is with Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Directorate of Nursing Department of Orthopedics in Honolulu, Hawaii. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.
Major duties
Assist and provides activities of daily living for all patients in the section assigned. Assist in transports patients to and from other specialty clinics for testing and treatment. Help monitor the patient and alerting the care provider of any and all patient vital sign and cognition changes. Assist medical personnel by handling and preparing such items as needles, IV solutions and tubing’s, sterile bandage supplies, gowns, mask, and gloves, procedure trays, to personnel responsible for use of these items. Aid the medical staff in resuscitation during any emergency crisis in any hospital location where assistance is needed. Perform daily calibrations and quality controls on all point of care laboratory equipment and record values as required. Perform point of care laboratory test at request of nursing personnel. Ensure all critical care equipment, monitors and carts are prepared, stocked and ready for use. Clean and decontaminate equipment on a rotating basis as required by infection control guidelines Keep critical care storage rooms and supply areas neat, orderly, free of congestion and all equipment is placed in its proper place. Provide nursing support as the unit ward clerk.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing support to adult and pediatric patients who may have mobility issues; 2) Assisting medical personnel with the preparation of supplies needed for common procedures; and 3) Performing administrative tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
