Major duties
Serve as a Lead Accounting Technician by identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks to team members in accordance with established workflow, and assures timely accomplishment of workload. Provide individual and team training in specific tasks and job techniques. Provide on-the-job training in accordance with established procedures and practices. Answer team members' questions concerning work processes and procedures, policies and directives. Lead and personally perform a combination of the following duties, researches and resolves routine and non-routine pre-validation issues, coordinates with Accounts Payable Maintenance, MOCAS Reconciliation and Accounts Maintenance and Control. Prepare correspondence responding to inquiries of a routine and non-routine nature explaining various aspects of accounting and providing detailed and technical explanations of accounting discrepancies or procedural and reporting requirements.
Qualification
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Validating, monitoring, or maintaining accounting transactions and records; entering accounting data into automated financial systems to process transactions; identifying and researching discrepancies in account transactions and making adjustments; or reconciling entitlement or feeder systems with accounting systems to ensure accurate recording and resolve any discrepancies. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Education
GS-06 Substitution of Education for Experience: Six months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply.
