This position is located in the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). DIU is focused exclusively on accelerating the adoption of commercial technology to transform military capability and capacity, while growing the national security innovation base.

Major duties

This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) Information Technology Management (Information Security) in accordance with 5 U.S.C. Section 9902. Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Leads and coordinates a comprehensive analysis of the overall cybersecurity risk associated with using a target application, system, environment and/or capability. Manages the continual monitoring and assessment of Cyber assurance programs, to include, but not limited to the areas of emerging Cyber threats/intelligence, capabilities, and policy landscape; Cyber assurance & privacy; AI Cyber related threats and assessments; proactive defensive cyber; and Assess & Authorize activities. Remains updated on emerging technology, trends, threats, and intelligence in the cybersecurity landscape to inform input to the Authorizing Official. Responsible for the leadership of the analysis of the threat environment, access vectors, and potential risks associated with the mission execution and data integrity as they inform the holistic risk posture perspective. Supports development of cyberspace plans, strategy, and policy in alignment with organizational cyberspace missions and initiatives, and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. This position requires incumbent to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and annually thereafter. You may qualify at the NH-IV level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-III grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to provide expert risk analysis and guidance to decision-makers on systems' cyber security, cyber risk of use, and/or readiness for authorization; Evaluating cyber security environment and vulnerabilities, analyzing security controls, identifying risk posture, and preparing high-quality security documentation; and Working closely with system owners and security teams to develop or validate mitigations / remediations, support continuous monitoring, and/or strengthen overall cyber readiness. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
