Job summary

Major duties
Advises financial, accounting and program managers on difficult financial situations/problems. Provides DoD and DFAS policy guidance to managers and supervisors throughout the Agency. Analyzes policy changes to regulations directing respective functional area key processes and the impacts to auditable processes, which are the result of policy, procedural, and/or system weaknesses. Performs reviews of financial systems with enterprise-wide application requiring a high degree of analytical and evaluative skills, as well as originality and advisory abilities. Remediates identified deficiencies in key control objectives, quality of documentation, and supporting documentation. Utilizes systems and data analytics tools to analyze accounting data in support of audit engagement activities.
Qualification
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12 if applying at the GS-13 level) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: performing analysis of financial programs and policies to ensure continuity of operations and providing solutions to financial problems; or, managing multiple high priority financial related projects, briefings, objectives through collaboration with other supervisors, both internally and externally to their organization. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
