Job summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Behavioral Health Case Manager and maintains responsibility for program management and implementation of the Defense Health Agency System of Care, Behavioral Health Caring Communication / Case Management Program operations. This position is at Patuxent River.

Major duties

Oversee staff planning to deliver efficient, comprehensive, and cost-effective patient care. Evaluate patient behavior, responses, treatment plans in consultation with the healthcare team. Assist patients with navigating healthcare systems. Analyze health care plans. Coordinate with appropriate parties including command and other medical teams within the guidance provided by DHA.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Behavioral Health Case Manager: Education: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) developing cost-effective healthcare protocols, 2) performing evaluations on health care plans and resources, 3) and facilitating optimal patient outcomes by aligning treatment plans with best practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
