SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY ENGINEER
We are seeking a highly capable and self-motivated EHS professional to join our Business Operations team. This role is critical in delivering proactive environmental, health, and safety support across a dynamic and fast-paced organization. The ideal candidate is a confident, autonomous operator who thrives while working with minimal supervision and possesses a strong customer service mindset. This position requires a proactive safety leader who can effectively support field teams, leadership, and operational stakeholders both domestically and internationally.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide expert EHS support to the Business Operations team, acting as a trusted advisor and safety partner
- Travel extensively (50%+, including both US and international destinations) to support operational sites, launch activities, manufacturing facilities, and business initiatives
- Conduct site assessments, audits, hazard analyses, and safety inspections with minimal oversight
- Deliver practical, solution-oriented EHS guidance while maintaining strong relationships with internal customers
- Develop and implement safety programs, training, and risk mitigation strategies tailored to operational needs
- Respond to urgent safety concerns and support incident investigations across multiple locations
- Champion a strong safety culture while balancing operational demands and timelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in high-risk or industrial environments
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive EHS experience in high-risk or industrial environments
- Experience in Human and Organizational Performance philosophy and program implementation
- Advanced degree in safety engineering
- Excellent organizational, presentation, training, and communication skills
- Experience with interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Experience with emergency response communication and incident management
- Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook)
- Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal direction and make sound decisions in the field
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven experience supporting business operations or field-based teams
- Willingness and ability to travel 50%+ domestically and internationally
- Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and international EHS regulations
- Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent) strongly preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
- If not local to SpaceX site relocation will be necessary.
- Travel Requirement: 50%+ (significant domestic and international travel)
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
