Job Description
Amentum is seeking a SMART Building Lead to support our industrial operations & maintenance team at our Lafayette, Indiana location.
The SMART Building Lead acts as an Internet of Things (IoT) SME to support facility communications and critical equipment maintenance teams with development of strategies that help create processes and programs able to sustain low operating costs and improve asset. This position works to gather machine and equipment data to reduce operating and maintenance equipment costs, increase uptime, and improve site sensor implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and follow through collecting facility, critical machine information, and create visualization screens of key assets for real time overview of site proficiency.
- Should be knowledgeable of best-in-class PLC, HMI and SCADA programming- Versamax, IGS, Kepware, Allen Bradley, GE, Proficy, Siemens, Modbus, BMS, Profinet.
- Proactively identifies potential facility/critical asset project problems or opportunities and analyzes the issues, using all appropriate resources, and develop the optimum approach to mitigating facility related software problems
- Identifies opportunities, perform root cause analysis associated with proprietary machine tools and testing
- You will need to possess knowledge of electrical and mechanical aspects of process/production equipment, including critical component functions and communications, to understand equipment issues and develop improvement opportunities.
- Lead equipment IT continuous improvement activities and communicate barriers, opportunities, and wins to client and Amentum management
- Develop, perform, and plan for facility shutdowns, turn arounds, and plant outages to ensure critical equipment programming, and communication is properly accounted for during all stages.
- Perform risk-based asset communications management and root cause analysis as needed during interruptions.
- Coverage for site leads as necessary
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facility Management, Industrial Technology, Computer Science, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and Six years of related experience will be considered.
- Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as MAXIMO, EAMS, or other database systems.
- Must be willing to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
- Experience with developing and detailing cost savings opportunities.
- Experience with performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective solutions.

Additional Information:
- Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
- This position requires a valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship/work authorization. This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
- This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
- Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
- Some tasks will require the ability to walk extensively throughout facilities during a workday.
- Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer.
- Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.
- Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer, and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.
- Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
- Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.
- Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Special Requirements:
- Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
- Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in equipment technology, programming, software management, and training of others on its usage. Microsoft server, networking, subnets and VLANS.
- Experience identifying and implementing Internet of Things (IoT) sensor technology.
- Strong technical background in and understanding of operations in an industrial / manufacturing / research facilities environment, including experience related to production equipment projects.
- Able to read, understand and follow mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints and other
- Experience with project management and implementation.
- Experience with financial and strategic planning or Project.
- Experience with employee supervision.
