Job Description
As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for executing a wide variety of inspections, nonconformance documentation, and the resolution of Starship products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and profilometer
- Approve or reject items and document inspection results as required
- Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design requirements through eCerts or physical copies
- Communicate with internal customers and suppliers to resolve inspection discrepancies
- Complete surface plate work/inspection of machined aerospace parts
- Support quality management system policies and procedure documentation, assess compliance with company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Inspect flight hardware at the supplier according to engineering drawings, purchase order(s), industry standards, and SpaceX specifications
- Use electronic MRP system to route parts and components to proper departments
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ years of receiving, precision, mechanical, or metrological inspection experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience operating a forklift or other material handling motorized vehicles and equipment
- Experience within the aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic fields
- Experience detecting design and drawing flaws
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications using ASME Y14.5
- Experience with GD&T and use of metrology tools and gauges
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work all shifts, overtime and/or weekends as needed
- Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted
- Must be able to work under adverse conditions (e.g., dirty, noisy, or confined spaces)
