Boeing Global Services (BGS) is looking for an Packaging Engineering Specialist to join our Global Warehousing & Logistics team in Forest Park, GA.
Global Warehousing & Logistics team supports operations and strategy in logistics, warehousing, and reusable packaging engineering. Joining our team will introduce you to the company’s many operations requiring logistics support. Our Packaging Engineering Specialists are hard-working, goal-oriented and creative, and we are looking for this new team member to participate in every level of design and orientation.
Position Responsibilities:
Associate
- Expect to learn all facets of Packaging, earning invaluable skills and industry knowledge
- Assist in determining efficiencies and prepare improvements for implementation as part of cost-effective worldwide distribution and storage by considering practical packaging and/or handling applications
- Assist in providing logistics support analysis by applying established company policies and procedures in accordance with domestic and international laws
- Assist with developing warehousing material flow, equipment layout, and capital budget to store assembly and support materials
- Maintain employee awareness for hazardous materials (dangerous goods) general familiarization, function specific, and safety requirements by providing walk-through support to meet federal and international regulations
- Assist in training and compliance for the implementation of HM-232 (Hazardous Materials Security Plans) for the receiving, storing and shipping of hazardous materials
- Evaluate, classify and develop packaging instructions for hazardous materials
- Plan the markings, labeling, packaging, and documentation for shipments in compliance with Federal, State, and international regulations
- May occasionally interact and present to high level organizational leadership
- Work independently with minimal oversight
Experienced
- Coordinate and provide property controls and enter calibration cycle through metrology departments to maintain accuracy of the equipment
- Submit approved requests and justifications in accordance with company procedures or policy
- Assist equipment procurement by researching and investigating the requirements/applications for material handling equipment to improve capabilities to evaluate quotations from potential suppliers of equipment
- Process billing and cost charge to prepare budget and justification for equipment
- Maximize efficiencies and implement improvements for cost effective worldwide distribution and storage by considering practical packaging and/or handling applications
- Provide logistics support analysis by applying established company policies and procedures in accordance with domestic and international laws
- Develop warehousing material flow, equipment layout, and capital budget to store assembly and support materials
- Assist in calculating volume, storage requirements, quantity and type of storage and handling equipment needed for high efficiency, low-cost warehouse operations
- Maintain employee awareness for hazardous materials, general familiarization, function specific, and safety requirements by providing walk-through support to meet federal and international regulations
- Oversee the training and compliance for the implementation of HM-232 (Hazardous Materials Security Plans) for the receiving, storing and shipping of hazardous materials (dangerous goods)
- Evaluate, classify and develop packaging instructions for hazardous materials
- Plan the markings, labeling, packaging, and documentation for shipments in compliance with Federal, State, and International regulations
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 1+ years of experience reading & interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- 1+ years of experience with packaging engineering (preferably packaging engineering)
- 1+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- 1+ years of experience using professional written and verbal communication skills to achieve deliverables
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 3+ years of work-related experience as listed above
- 3+ years of experience in dangerous goods, regulations and assessments
- 3+ years of experience with creating packaging requirements
- 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of experience working with CAD system (SolidWorks, NX Unigraphics or Catia)
- 3+ years of experience working independently
- 3+ years of experience in analytical and design skills
- 3+ years of experience critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Degree in Engineering or Technical Discipline

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: (Associate) $73,950 - $87,000
Summary Pay Range: (Experienced) $90,950 - $107,000
