Manufacturing Supervisor, Starlink Silicon Assembly

Job Description
As a Production Supervisor, you will lead and scale high-performance teams responsible for the insourcing of custom integrated circuits and packages - from rapid prototyping through high-volume production. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, supply chain, operations, and management to solve problems quickly in a demanding, fast-paced cleanroom environment. The ideal candidate is motivated by Starlink's mission to deliver high-speed, low-latency global connectivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a team of manufacturing specialists, technicians, and equipment maintenance personnel accountable for process development, product qualification, reliability, and high-volume ramp of silicon packages and flight/consumer hardware.
- Own safety performance, ensuring all team members receive required Environmental, Health & Safety training and strictly follow safety policies.
- Develop and mentor team members through training, performance management, career progression, hiring, and discipline.
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean principles, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and other tools to eliminate waste, reduce cycle time, lower costs, and improve throughput and quality.
- Develop and execute daily production plans, prioritizing work based on customer commitments, manpower, equipment capacity, and material availability.
- Analyze production data, resolve operational issues, and lead root cause analysis (5Why, 8D, A3) and corrective actions to maintain quality and meet customer requirements.
- Partner with engineering and process leaders on design for manufacturability, process standardization, and variation reduction.
- Act as the primary technical decision-maker for the team on production, efficiency, and personnel matters.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree & 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing/test environment, or 5+ years of experience without a degree.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with safety-critical systems, mechanical assemblies, automated equipment, and multi-axis heavy equipment.
- 3+ years of formal team leadership experience.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, operations management, or math discipline.
- 3+ years managing production teams in a semiconductor back-end cleanroom environment (NPI/ Assembly & Test experience strongly preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S/6S, Six Sigma (DMAIC), SPC, FMEA, and Theory of Constraints (TOC).
- Experience with flight-quality or high-reliability hardware in a fast-paced production setting.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification (ASQ preferred).
- Experience in low-mix, high-volume manufacturing under ISO9001 or AS9100.
- Proficient with MS Office, ERP/MRP systems; Power BI and SQL experience is a plus.
- Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities in a high-growth environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position.
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted.
