We are seeking a Director, International Payroll/ Dyrektor/ Dyrektorka Międzynarodowej Obsługi Płacowej.

The selected candidate will be employed by Critical Mission Services Sp. z o.o., part of Amentum.

About the opportunity

The Director, International Payroll will lead the end-to-end delivery of payroll operations outside the United States, with primary operational oversight based in Amentum’s Kraków shared services center. This role is accountable for the accurate, compliant, and timely execution of global payroll, including timekeeping validation, labor processing, and gross-to-net pay delivery across a complex multi-country environment. The Director will play a critical leadership role in transforming Amentum’s global payroll function by driving standardization, strengthening governance, and reducing reliance on external payroll providers.

Key Responsibilities

Global Payroll Operations

  • Lead daily payroll production activities across international regions, ensuring accurate and timely pay delivery.
  • Oversee timekeeping and labor processing inputs, ensuring data integrity from upstream systems (e.g., Workday, ERPs).
  • Establish and maintain rigorous payroll validation, reconciliation, and audit controls to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Vendor Management & Consolidation Strategy

  • Manage relationships with global payroll providers, ensuring performance against SLAs, accuracy standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Execute the strategic roadmap to reduce external payroll providers from 19 to 5 (or fewer) by 2029.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to transition countries onto a simplified, scalable payroll delivery model (e.g., ADP Celergo or other platforms).

Process Standardization & Compliance

  • Drive the development and adoption of standardized global payroll processes, procedures, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with country-specific payroll regulations, tax laws, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Partner with internal audit and compliance teams to support SOX controls and audit readiness.

Shared Services Leadership (Kraków GDO)

  • Lead and develop the Kraków-based payroll operations team, fostering a high-performance, service-oriented culture.
  • Implement scalable shared services practices, optimizing cost, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Support “follow-the-sun” operational models and global service delivery alignment.

Transformation & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion automation initiatives, reducing manual processes and cycle times across payroll operations.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve data quality, and enhance system integrations.
  • Support broader initiatives such as paygroup consolidation, process automation, and knowledge base development.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and business leaders to ensure alignment on payroll delivery and transformation initiatives.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on payroll performance, risks, and improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on international payroll operations and compliance matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 12+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience, including significant international payroll oversight.
  • Demonstrated experience managing global payroll vendors and multi-country payroll operations.
  • Strong knowledge of global payroll compliance, statutory requirements, and audit controls.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP Celergo, or similar platforms.
  • Proven track record leading transformation initiatives, including vendor consolidation and process standardization.
  • Experience operating within shared services or global delivery models preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
