Summary

Job Description

The Dimensional/Mechanical Quality Inspector will support the manufacturing and assembly of precision mechanical components and structures for long-range hypersonic strike vehicles. This is an hourly, non-exempt position located in our Torrance facility. In this role, you will ensure mechanical parts and assemblies meet drawing, specification, and quality requirements throughout the production lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection of machined parts, sheet metal, hardware, and mechanical assemblies
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measurement tools
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and acceptance criteria
  • Verify material certifications, traceability, and compliance documentation
  • Perform visual inspection for workmanship, damage, cleanliness, and configuration accuracy
  • Support first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements
  • Document nonconformances clearly and work with manufacturing and engineering on resolution
  • Maintain accurate inspection and acceptance records in accordance with the quality management system
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection methods and defect reduction
  • Assist with customer and government source inspections as required

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience inspecting mechanical or structural hardware in an aerospace or defense environment
  • Strong proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience using common dimensional inspection tools
  • Knowledge of mechanical workmanship standards and assembly practices
  • High level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting R&D and early-stage production programs
  • Prior involvement inspecting flight or mission-critical hardware
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable collaborating with machinists, assemblers, engineers, and quality personnel
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities while maintaining inspection accuracy
  • Familiarity with digital quality systems and inspection documentation
