Role at a Glance

As a Motion Designer at Gecko Robotics, you will be the bridge between static design and cinematic storytelling. We are looking for a "Graphic Designer with an innate sense of pacing and rhythm.” Someone with a relentless eye for taste, composition, and technical detail. You won’t just be "creating graphics"; you’ll be defining how our brand feels in motion, from animating interfaces to creating 3D overlays on industrial robotics footage. You are a go-getter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is obsessed with the future of AI & Robotics. We hope you can join us for a 10-15 week internship in Pittsburgh, PA.

What you will do

  • Motion Branding: Transform static campaign visuals into living, moving works using a catalogue of cinematic robot footage and cutting edge software interfaces, from around the world of critical infrastructure.

  • Post-Production Polish: Collaborate with the Videographer to enhance footage with technical overlays, motion-tracked graphics, and 2D/3D elements. The end result is not just cool- it connects Gecko’s capabilities with direct impacts to the world.

  • Software Visualization: Create compelling "product-in-action" advertisements by animating our software UI to demonstrate value and functionality.

  • Full-Spectrum Design: Execute high-end 2D graphic design for diverse assets including brand ads, event posters, and presentation decks.

  • 3D Integration: Render 3D models and assets to animate the breadth and depth of our robotic and software systems.

  • Rapid Prototyping: Conceptualize and storyboard ideas quickly, moving from a rough brief to a polished output with minimal oversight.

  • Team: Embedded in a tight-knit powerhouse team with wide ranging skillsets and opportunities to experience all sides of the business. Resources at your disposal from powerful workstations to experts in their field.

About You

  • Education: You are studying Motion Design, Graphic Design, or similar curriculum.

  • Design-First: A background in Graphic Design. You understand typography, grid systems, and color theory as the foundation of great visual communication.

  • Taste: A portfolio that demonstrates a clean, straightforward, and technical aesthetic. You know how to craft complex ideas into compelling media.

  • Self-Starter: You don't wait for a storyboard; you come up with one. You are comfortable working quickly and iterating based on technical feedback.

  • Experience: Comfortable creating across a wide range of mediums, demonstrated with a diverse body of work.

  • Must Have: Proficiency in After Effects and the Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci for Video Editing, Figma for UI/UX motion.

  • Nice to Have: 3D software Proficiency (Blender, Octane, Redshift, Cinema 4D, Keyshot). Experience creating motion design for web experiences.
