Major duties
You will be responsible for assisting the H60 Tech Leads in the design, developmental integration and experimentation of core software for automating critical elements of weapons system payloads deployed on various crewed and uncrewed platforms. You will support software development efforts specific to Computer Vision and Kill Chain Automation enhancements. You will design software components and algorithms for the integration and creation of the required capabilities, developing algorithms for kill chain automation, and characterizing system performance as assigned. You will be responsible for documentation and delivery (oral and written) of work performed. You will be responsible for supporting H63 and other H60 organizational initiatives and personal training and career growth opportunities to include understanding and assimilating into the NSWCDD culture, mandatory training and meetings. You will adhere to Dept/Div/branch policy, and maintain and execute an IDP and YOE. You will provide mentorship and share knowledge and lessons learned with other junior scientist and new team members. You will support software development efforts specific to Computer Vision and Kill Chain Automation enhancements.
Qualification
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, ND-03 (GS-09/11 equivalency), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a computer scientist with experience in software development and software architectures. Examples of qualifying experience may include: Significant experience as a Software Developer (5-8+ years). Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Deep expertise in Python with a familiarity with C++, bash, and JavaScript. Experience with building modular interfaces, software containerization, and microservices. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns. Proven ability to design scalable, maintainable, and secure software architectures. Proficiency with DevOps principles and practices and CI/CD tools. Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems. Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: 1550-Computer Science Series: A degree in computer science; or a degree with at least 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of these 30 semester hours must have been in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
