Job summary
This position is located at the Defense Logistics Agency in Richmond, Virginia. Major duties
Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing, such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading. Weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modified menu items. Operates a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources. Disassembles, cleans and assembles component parts and accessories, following safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment. Cleans other work areas and equipment, such as worktables, floors, walk-in refrigerators, etc., on an established cleaning schedule. Follows established sanitation procedures when handling food. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification
Standard Qualifications: Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess. Demonstration of the following work behavior is desirable: a. Neatness and good grooming. b. Dependability. c. Ability to work under pressure. Highly Qualified: Possess a current food handler certification (i.e. ServSafe) Applicable Experience MUST be reflected on your Resume, and Certification/Licenses must be uploaded at the time of application to be considered for Standard and/or Highly Qualified for this position. Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official. All other applicants may be referred for consideration at managements request.
