This position is contingent upon program funding.

We are seeking either a Principal Software Engineer or a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our Enhanced Polar Systems - Recapitalization (EPS-R) program sustaining an operational Military Satellite Communication (MILSATCOM) Payload system. In this role, you will perform software migration, software enhancements (Payload Flight software, test scripts, data analysis and processing tools) and full cycle testing to support the Payload Flight software. This position located onsite in Manhattan Beach, CA.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

• Principal Software Engineer - Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience; PhD with 1 year of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
• Sr. Principal Software Engineer - Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience; PhD with 4 years of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
• Active DoD Secret Clearance required at the time of application
• Experience with programming languages: C/C++, Perl, Python
• Experience with operating systems: Solaris Unix or Linux, Windows
• Experience with the software lifecycle (design, development, tests, documentation)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Embedded systems software development, integration, and test experience
• Experience with VxWorks
• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite including Jira and Confluence
• Experience working on MILSATCOM Payload programs
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking skills to resolve software development and migration anomalies and analyze test results

Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
