About US Army Financial Management Command

USAFMCOM is a Major Subordinate Command to the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) whose mission is to deliver logistics, sustainment and material readiness from the installation to the forward tactical edge to ensure globally dominant land force capabilities. USAFMCOM performs Army-wide and Army-unique actions such as financial management functions and financial support services. These include but are not limited to: financial systems support and sustainment; technical training; electronic commerce; classified finance and accounting; audit resolution strategies; standardization of financial business processes; functional sustainment to the General Funds Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) ERP, as well as liaison functions throughout the Army and Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). USAFMCOM also provides technical coordination for Finance and Comptroller (FC) units and military pay support with commands across the Army, in order to ensure the effective implementation of policies and programs to support optimally resourcing the Army and supporting Soldiers.

Major duties

Serves as senior advisor and recognized authority for AMPO programs, functions, services, and activities. Develops, plans, coordinates, and executes policies, plans, and strategies regarding both short term and long-range planning efforts for the execution, oversight, and evaluation. Provides authoritative interpretations of DoD and DA regulations, policies, and administrative guidelines, as well as legislative changes, directly related to the AMPO services provided. Maintains a continual review of organizational and administrative operations and support functions. Ensures DoD, DA, and AMC programs and policies are implemented in accordance with USAFMCOM goals and objectives and are consistent with management objectives of the organization. Participates in formal and informal management, policy, planning, and decision-making meetings and sessions regarding both short-term and long-range program planning efforts. Represents USAFMCOM on various DoD and DA on a wide range of initiatives and study groups related to AMPO operations.

Qualification

Time in Grade:For entry at the GS-15 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-14 or higher grade in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience:For the GS-15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-14 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in Providing leadership to a financial management organization regarding Military Pay Operations. Serving as a supervisor, team lead or senior-level expert/consultant providing analysis and assessment on high visibility initiatives or projects as well as daily operations and mission support. Providing advice and recommendations to senior leaders regarding issues impacting financial management standards, policies, processes and operating procedures to ensure efficient delivery of Army Military Pay services. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
